Obituary for
Bonnie Ayers Patterson
Bonnie Ayers Patterson went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 21, 1932 in Shipshewana, IN. She moved to Fort Wayne as a teenager and graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School. She spent the remainder of her life in the Indianapolis and Westfield area. She attended the University of Indianapolis majoring in criminal justice.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Robert Patterson, her 102 year old mother Catherine Simpson and brother Dan Leitch (Joan). She is also survived by her children Tim Ayers (Jennifer), Beth Lathrop (Rick) and Kate Ayers. She was the beloved grandmother to Jacob Ayers (Meghan), Emily Ayers and Elizabeth Tucker (Carl). She is also survived by two great grandchildren Grace Tucker and Liam Ayers.
Bonnie attended Faith Church of which she was a founding member for over fifty years. Her passion for music allowed her to use her beautiful soprano voice and piano ability in the church choir, madrigal dinners, countless solos and artistic events throughout her life.
As a career woman she spent over thirty years as a Real Estate Broker for Century 21 Gold Key and later Sycamore Group. Her love of people, outgoing personality and her ability to make anyone feel at home gave her many years of rewarding experiences which led to many lifelong friendships.
While a young mother she spent many years as a Sunday School teacher which gave her the opportunity to teach many children about the Bible and Christ. She later became actively involved in Bible Study Fellowship, Indpls. and became a leader herself.
In her later years she took on the task of teaching English as a second language (ESL) at Faith Church. Her love for her students from around the world was evident in the time she took in planning her lessons and the involvement she took in the lives of her students.
She enjoyed reading, antiques, cooking, crosswords, the Pacers and was a gracious hostess, poet and songstress. She will be remembered as a generous and loving person who will be missed by all who knew her.
Her lifelong faith and love for Jesus Christ gave her the desire to live every day as a tribute to her Lord and Savior.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held Saturday, April 20th,10:30 A.M. at Faith Church, 9125 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46240. Calling will be Friday, April 19th, 4:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. at Faith Church.
